Riverside Healthcare | The Journey | Summer 2021
14 RiversideHealthcare.org For Riverside Healthcare, there has always been a commitment to providing the best technology available for the best outcomes for patient care. With this in mind, Riverside recently became the first hospital in the state to implement Stryker ’s new integrated technology system, Hospital Status, in its operating rooms (OR). Stryker ’s Hospital Status is an IT solution designed to improve workflow and visibility for surgeons and staff working in the OR. One of the substantial benefits of the new system is the ability to stream live video throughout the operating room. The secure video feeds provide information to monitors, desktops and tablets in the operating room. With this, the entire OR team can view what a surgeon sees up close in real time. Proactive and precise care “The hope is that by providing real- time video, OR staff will be able to Riverside becomes first in state to adopt Stryker’s new integrated technology system better anticipate both the surgeon’s and patient’s needs before they happen,” says Mary Kohl, Director of Perioperative Surgery. The new system allows up to six or seven high-definition cameras to record simultaneously, giving staff the ability to see directly into surgical areas, even in a darkened operating room. Plus, the system integrates directly with Riverside’s MyChart app, myRiverside, providing seamless information to a patient’s file. This means less manual entry for staff and a reduced likelihood of error. Juan Jimenez, MD, Riverside neurosurgery specialist, became the first Riverside surgeon to use the new Hospital Status system. “This is an awe-inspiring system,” says Dr. Jimenez. “Its ability to integrate directly with patient records means I can consult with a patient’s family immediately after a procedure, giving them a better understanding of what occurred during surgery.” Going forward, Hospital Status is designed to continue to adapt to new technology. While 4K is the highest resolution currently available, the system can accommodate 8K in the future. Likewise, the system is ready for fiber when it becomes available. With this level of technology, patients can look forward to even better care beyond what they’ve come to expect from Riverside. Advanced tech for even better care LIVE Secure, live video feeds provide information to monitors, desktops and tablets in the operating room. Neurosurgeon Juan Jimenez, MD, was the first to use the new Hospital Status system at Riverside Healthcare.
