Follow Us Find your way faster Digital kiosks make navigating our campus intuitive and efficient With a visit to Riverside's main campus, you might see what looks like giant phones in some of the lobbies. These large pieces are part of Riverside’s new digital wayfinding system. The digital wayfinding kiosks are part of an effort to better guide patients and visitors throughout the hospital more efficiently. Next time you visit, give them a try! The new kiosks are designed to be user-friendly and essentially are giant cellphones. The screens are touch-responsive and allow visitors to search by a provider's name or by specialty. The kiosks also allow users to search by room or location. Once a destination is selected, the kiosks show the quickest route on the map with turn-by-turn steps, approximate time and distance. Visitors can zoom in and out, search for specific locations, and get detailed directions. This level of interactivity empowers visitors to take control of their journey, making navigation intuitive and efficient. The kiosks even provide a QR code that sends directions to a personal phone. Real-time data One of the most significant benefits of moving to digital wayfinding is the ability to provide realtime information. Traditional static signage takes significant planning and cost. Digital wayfinding systems, on the other hand, can instantly update information, ensuring visitors always have access to the most current data on routes, events, closures and other relevant details. Health care needs to be local care Occasionally, when I am talking with someone about Riverside they will say, “I didn’t know you did that at Riverside.” When this happens, it’s usually during a conversation about some advanced, complex procedure, and they assume it’s something that would have to done at a hospital “up north.” I take pride in letting them know that we have the experts and technology to do that very procedure right here at Riverside— and do it with great success. The interesting thing about health care is that it’s not something you usually spend much time thinking about until you need it. When you do need it, it’s hard to think about much else. And often, here in our community, the thought is that for more advanced health care you need to leave the area. Riverside was founded on the idea that the people in our service area deserve to have the health care they need available to them, right here, close to home. Health care, from basic care to advanced, needs to be local care. This edition of The Journey includes some things people may not know are available at Riverside—from advanced cardiac and spine surgery to life-changing carpal tunnel surgery and a world-class cancer program. Please take a moment to learn, or refresh your memory, about the extraordinary things we are doing here at Riverside. And the next time someone shares with you that they are needing some advanced health care, you’ll likely be able to tell them they are in luck—“Riverside does that.” Thank you, Phillip Kambic, President and CEO, Riverside Healthcare
